INNER CHILD WORK

We are locking up the playing, cheerful, creative and loving part of ourselves in our innermost to not having to feel the pain.
But how much do we do hurt ourselves by denying this aspect in us? The way back to our authentic self can be with inner child work!

The magic begins…

Six steps of inner child work

1 GET IN TOUCH

By learning to make contact with your inner child, you can gain insight into what is happening in your interior, now still, based on your own past experiences. The pain of now is just an echo of the pain from the past. The first step to reinvent yourself and regain your strength is to make contact with the child inside of you.

2 LISTEN AND START A RELATIONSHIP

A relationship with yourself, which has long been on a very low level, to avoid the pain, has long enough functioned with old patterns and survival mechanisms you developed. Your inner child wants to be heard and taken seriously and then listening is a first step.

3 BE THE LOVING PARENT

This is about trust, helping the child to trust you again and laying a foundation for a whole new relationship with your inner child. You understand your inner child like no other! You have experienced all those things that your inner child is with. As a result, you are eminently the person to help your inner child grow up.

4 HELP YOUR CHILD GROW UP

From trust, patience and love, you can take your inner child by hand and help to process and let go of the pain from the past to find your inner strength step by step.

5 MAINTAIN THE RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR CHILD

Your inner child becomes your emotional compass again, you can tell her what’s going on. Your actions are increasingly coming from your own inner strength and intuition. By maintaining the relationship with your inner child, you will completely come back to yourself.

6 LIVE A HAPPY AND MEANINGFUL LIFE

Feeling free, being able to make choices from your heart, being able to feel love for yourself and others, to give unconditional love. That is what a healthy and emotionally balanced inner child can give you. GO FOR IT!

How we give attention to our inner child?

Inner Child work can be simply explained in two practices, which can be integrated into your daily life, combining them both.

* To give our Inner Child loving attention, checking in with how they feel and having fun together, to play!
For example: go for a beautiful walk in Nature, playing with dogs, cats or other animals, go and eat ice cream, go for a run etc… let your imagination flow. PLAYFULNESS.

* To give your Inner Child loving attention when they are triggered; letting them express their emotions, to hold space for them in her emotions, going back together to difficult situations from the past. In this part it is very important that you see and hear your child during emotional times; pain and sadness, and that they can express it. You are there to hold your child, to comfort them and support them in letting it all out. Our Inner Parent is activated here, to hold space and meet their needs.

You can do both practices in a meditative (imaginary state) and in a practical (physically) sense. You can shift between them, feeling what is good for you and your inner child in the moment. During the course we will demonstrate these practices through meditations and homework suggestions and assignments.

Do you want to transmit or integrate inner child work into your own therapeutic work? That is possible.
